MOBILE, Alabama -- A local man is in custody after allegedly trying to sell two vehicles without the owner’s permission. According to police, the 57-year-old man was arrested Friday evening. The suspect was charged with a number of offenses, including unauthorized sale of a vehicle and possession of narcotics. The man was booked at the Mobile County Jail.
A local business has stepped up to help support foster families and non-profit agencies with a new initiative. Do Some Good Mobile Magazine is celebrating National Foster Care Month this May. They are featuring a few of the many local organizations that help out.
The man dubbed “Bigg” for his big build, big personality and big love of music came from a broken family. He grew up in the projects of Oakland and San Francisco and took to street crime at a very young age. His mother, Nneka Pears, said that at one point in his adolescence she was fed up and told him to go home.
Mr. Roy Blount began collecting aluminum cans years ago to recycle and donate to local causes. Over the years, he has collected so many cans that it takes two large U-Haul trucks to haul them away. He also gives back to the community by volunteering at the Mobile SPCA. It takes him hours every weekend to greet visitors and answer questions. This is what he calls his "calling."
