Maalox Total Relief is a liquid medicine that can be used for many different conditions. It is similar to the traditional Maalox liquid antacid products that are available without a prescription (OTC).
These are medicines that work to lower the acid level in your stomach and help relieve symptoms of heartburn, indigestion, nausea or acid reflux. They also have an anti-foaming agent to help remove gas from your stomach and gullet.
If you are taking other medicines, tell your doctor or pharmacist before you start using this product. These could make it harder for this medication to work.
The right dose for you will depend on your age and what is wrong with you. The recommended dosage is one or two 5 ml spoonfuls 20 minutes to 1 hour after meals and at bedtime or as required.
You may need to take more than this, especially if you have an ulcer. Talk to your doctor or go to hospital straight away if you have any symptoms of an ulcer.
This medicine should not be taken if you are taking some other medicines including oral anti-diabetic drugs, blood thinning medications or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and naproxen. These could make it harder for this medicine to work properly or reduce the amount of it that works.
