Located just west of West Palm Beach in central Palm Beach County and 66 miles north of Miami, the village of Wellington is located within the South Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the largest village in Palm Beach County by population and the fifth largest in the state of Florida by population.
Wellington is served by public transportation through Palm Tran and is also a short drive from Palm Beach International Airport. Several major highways pass through or near Wellington. The most notable are Southern Boulevard (designated as both U.S. Route 98 and State Road 80) which runs north-to-south along the western edge of the village, and Lake Worth Road (designated as State Road 82) which moves east-to-west through the eastern part of the community. Florida's Turnpike passes along the far eastern edge of the village, though it does not have entrance or exit ramps within its municipal limits.
As is typical of most parts of the Sunshine State, the climate in Wellington is very tropical. The winter months are relatively warm and dry, while summertime is hot, humid and rainy.
