Where is Survivor Filmed?

June 1, 2023

Some things about Survivor never change — like host Jeff Probst's sick burns during Immunity Challenges — but other elements of the show vary from season to season. The most important factor is the location, which can make or break a contestant's time on the island and can even be a major reason why some viewers are more invested in a particular season.

Since the first season of Survivor debuted in 2000, the show has been filmed in a variety of locations around the world, usually favoring warm and tropical destinations. The series has filmed in Africa (Season 3), the Marquesas Islands of Fiji (Season 4), Thailand's Satun Province (Season 5), the Amazon rainforest of Brazil (Season 6), and more, but each location still delivers the same basic concept: strangers are sent to live on a remote island with limited food, water, and shelter, compete in challenges, and try to vote out other players one by one until only one remains to win the million-dollar prize.

The most recent Survivor filming locations can be found in the Mamanuca Islands of Fiji, where the series has filmed for the past two seasons. The season before that, Survivor filmed in Macuata, Vanua Levu, also in the Fijian Islands.

While the locations are fairly straightforward to find, some are harder to pinpoint. As a helpful guide, this wikipedia page on the island of Pulau Tiga includes some great photos of the tribe camps and the area surrounding them. It's worth noting that the mud volcano used in the challenges can be seen on this map of the island (look for the red dots).
