Ingleside TX is a town nestled between two bays, Corpus Christi Bay and Oso Bay. The town is primarily in San Patricio County with parts of it falling into Nueces County. The city has a suburban feel with most residents owning their homes. The schools are above average and residents tend to have moderate political views.
The history of the town dates back to 1854 when George Hatch settled on Live Oak Peninsula. Like most Texans of that time Hatch was a man of many interests. He raised cattle and hogs, operated a general store and also was involved in grape culture. He introduced grape cultivation to the area and in the 1880s it became a major industry here.
In the 1920’s Humble Oil built pipelines, a deep water terminal and a refinery in the community. The town’s prosperity was short lived however because of labor issues at the end of World War II the plant was closed and put up for salvage sale. Nevertheless Ingleside continued to grow and by 1947 the population was 1,125. A local Brauer Corporation aluminum fabrication plant opened in 1948 and Reynolds Metals followed with a facility only five miles away in 1950. In 1973 DuPont also opened a local plant.
Ingleside is a suburb of Corpus Christi and is home to Naval Station Ingleside. Its population was 9,519 at the 2020 census. Most residents own their homes and have children. The town’s public schools are above average and the majority of students graduate from high school. The town is also known for its good beaches and parks.
