What Percent of the Population Has Abs?

February 15, 2024

The number of people who actually have abs is incredibly small. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to achieve a body fat percentage low enough to see them, and even then, they can be difficult for some to maintain. It’s also important to understand that abs are just one part of the core. There are many muscles that make up the core, and they help with everything from spinal flexion to hip rotation (4).

While there are several factors that can affect if you have visible abs, the main ones include body composition, diet and exercise. Getting defined abs requires a combination of both high levels of physical activity and a healthy, low-fat diet. For example, lean proteins like skinless chicken breast are a great source of protein, which helps build and repair muscles, as well as burn calories.

It’s also important to remember that your genetics play a role in whether or not you have abs. Even if you have an excellent exercise routine and a diet full of healthy foods, some people simply aren’t predisposed to having washboard abs.

Regardless of whether or not you have abs, it’s still important to focus on a balanced lifestyle and prioritize your health. Getting to a healthy body weight is the first step, and the rest is up to you. If you do have abs, be proud of them! They’re a great indicator that you’re leading a healthy life.
