June 1, 2023

The Weather Channel, founded in 1982, is a 24-hour TV network dedicated to the broadcasting of weather forecasts and related news. The Weather Channel is available to 79 million homes in the United States and offers programming including live studio shows, documentaries, and analysis of current and future weather conditions.

The channel also produces and airs an affiliate network of more than 200 local newscasts. Its online services include a web portal and mobile apps, as well as weather radar and satellite imaging. The Weather Channel is known for its frequent coverage of major weather events and natural disasters in the U.S. and worldwide.

As of May 20, 2019, The Weather Channel was not available on Dish Network in the United States due to a dispute over cable carriage fees. The channel's CEO, David Kenny, claimed that Dish was unwilling to pay what he called "standard industry rates" for the channel, and blasted the company for putting profit ahead of public safety.

In April 2019 The Weather Channel experienced a brief period of not being able to air live programming after a malware attack was discovered on the network's system. Previously taped shows were aired while engineers worked to fix the problem.

There are several ways to watch The Weather Channel on Dish. You can subscribe to the channel's premium packages, which include ESPN, Newsmax, CMT, Disney Channel and E! The channel can also be streamed on Dish Anywhere and the Dish Network app.
