How to Meditate in Assassin's Creed Odyssey

June 8, 2024

Like its predecessor, Assassin's Creed Odyssey offers players a wealth of mechanics to explore and play around with. There's a territory system that has you aligning with the competing powers of Ancient Greece, a series of Ainigmata Ostraka puzzles to solve and more. But Ubisoft's latest open world also further develops the RPG elements of Assassin's Creed Origins in a big way.

One of these is the ability to meditate, which allows you to change the time of day at will. It's a neat trick that can be used to skip over tense skirmishes or jump to night for sneaking into enemy camps. Just make sure not to meditate while in direct danger, as it will slow you down.

To meditate, you'll need to head to a synchronization point in the game. Look for a small circle and a bird icon on the map that'll appear over it when you hover your mouse over it. You can find a few of these throughout the island, including near some of the main settlements. They're usually located at the top of a tall hill or mountain, and climbing them will trigger a short cutscene that starts your meditation session.

Once you're done meditating, you can return to the normal time of day by pressing and holding the touch pad on PS4 or the view button on Xbox One. You can also use this function to fast-travel between synchronization points, which is useful since the game's map doesn't have quite as many of them as Origins did.
