How Many People in the World Have Abs?

February 15, 2024

The coveted six-pack of washboard abs is a common goal for many people who exercise. While everyone has the rectus abdominus muscles that form these muscles, only a very small percentage of the population can actually show them off due to genetics and body fat distribution.

While there are a variety of reasons why some individuals do not have a six-pack, the main reason is that it takes extreme hard work to reach such a low body fat percentage that allows the abdominal muscles to become visible. Achieving this level of fitness requires strict diet and training routines to cut fat and build lean muscle.

In order to see a six-pack, a person needs to be a fairly lean individual with a body fat percentage around 13% for men and 20% for women. This is a very difficult threshold to reach, as it will take a significant amount of work to burn off the layer of fat that covers these muscles.

Even when someone does achieve this level of body composition they will often find that their abs are not perfectly symmetrical, a condition known as uneven abs. While uneven abs are mostly determined by genetics it can also be a result of bad posture, poor body mechanics during workouts or scoliosis.

Overall, it is impossible to say exactly how many people in the world have abs as there are so many different variables at play. However, it is safe to say that the vast majority of people will never see a six-pack as it takes a great deal of effort and discipline to achieve this goal.
