highest point in Minnesota

The highest point in Minnesota is Eagle Mountain at 2,301 feet above sea level. The mountain is located in the northeastern part of the state, wholly within the Superior National Forest and Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

Minnesota is a state in the United States that has a lot to offer the outdoor enthusiast. From its fabled land of 10,000 lakes to its sprawling cities and awe-inspiring wilderness, there is something for everyone in this midwestern gem.

Most of the state is comprised of gently rolling plains that were formed when glaciers moved over it. Northern parts of Minnesota have rugged terrain consisting of rocky ridges and deep lakes.

Southeastern areas of the state are flat, cut by deep valleys created by fast flowing rivers and streams. This part of the state is dominated by sand, gravel, and clay deposits that make it suitable for agriculture.

There are also a number of high point trails throughout the state, which are great for hikers and bikers alike. Some of these routes are short, while others require more planning and a little bit of preparation to reach the peak.

The highest point in the state is located in the Misquah Hills in the far northeastern part of the state. This is a remote destination, but there are several hiking trails that lead to the summit and it is only about 15 miles from Lake Superior.

The trail to the peak is a long 3 1/2 mile hike. It is relatively well maintained and there is a survey marker at the summit. If you are looking for a good hiking trip in the fall or spring, then this is a great option!
